I assume you mean the SE-i rear disc conversion.

The How to sections and FAQs are great, but the real power is using the search engine.

Just did one and found it not to bad to do as long as you have some mechanical ability, you should be alright. The e-brake cables were a pain in the butt but other than that not to bad. I also change all mine flex lines to Stainless Steel and with the rear disc and all SS flex lines, she brakes like a dream.

brake upgrade LX to SEi discussion

Hey all I got new rotors and calipers for an 89 SEi. I tried to hook them up to the 87 bracket and itīs a different mounting design, the LX uses 1 bolt 1 pin whereas the SEi uses 2 bolts to attach the caliper.
Well I went back to the UPick and got the 89 bracket and when I tried to attach it to the LX steering knuckle the bracket is too thick (not enough clearance between rotor and the bracket)
now I'm wondering if one of these two are possible:
Modify the LX bracket to accept the 89 caliper or put some kind of spacer that will move the rotor (disk) outwards.
    What do you all think?
Or am I stuck buying the damn knuckle too?

yea the calipers will be much different but I don't see why the rotors won't work porperly. You can not space out the rotor for sure, you might have to grind away some ofthe hub so the caliper fits properly. I used the Se-i hubs so I can't be much of use to ya.

why try to reinvent the wheel? I would just go back and get the whole 88-89 LXi knuckle and be done with it.

    yup.

the safety issues involved with making brackets for my brakes is enouhg to get me to just buy the knuckles.

    SE-I conversion

Quick question. Does anyone have a ballpark figure on what a rear disk conversion would cost if you bought all new parts? Nothing down to the cents but just a guestimated figure. Might be useful to know if people can find some parts and not others, then they'd be able to estimate a cost on the remaining stuff, etc.

freakin expensive as hell.... Just the calipers were expensive when I had to replace them.

Honda wants $400CDN for ONE caliper :O... so I got rebuilt ones, luckily I worked at a parts store at the time, but at my cost, it was about $400CDN for calipers, pads, and rotors... so at retail its a lot of money.

And i dont even want to guess on the control arms and whatnot that you need.

cuz I've replaced the wheel bearings and balljoints on the lx like 4 yrs ago. Just trying to cut corners, it's also a botch to remove those balljoints at the junkyard. w/e I'll bite the bullet this wkend

new calipers are around $40 a piece from autozone or w/e, rotors abt 25 each, pads about 30 for the set. Plus cores of course. I'll get the actual numbers, I got printouts at home
