    hanging idle 89 lxi

    i have a 89 accord lxi 5 speed when i put in clutch to stop at light
    the idle hangs at 2000 then after 8 seconds it drops to normal
    it does this every time help

    have you checked your ECU for any codes? that should tell you whats going on, definitely some kind of sensor problem

    how do i check the ecu? i have a code reader but dont think this has obd2

    If you can take the gas pedal and pull back on it and the idle falls back to normal its the throttle cable is too tight. There should be some slack at idle.

    you can check the code by moving your drivers seat forward, and under the seat there is a little plastic cover that you can pop off and there is a light that will blink if there is a code.
