    Storing carbs

My boyfriend went to the juck yard and got a carb off a Honda accord year not sure same carb as mine. So 87 88 or what ever year they used the carb. What is a good way to store a carb after being rebuilt. I am getting ready to be rebuilt this next week. Just need to know how to store it so that it doesn't end up going bad in the proccess. Thank you.

Hmm, keep it dry and away from chemicals. If you rebuild it make sure you don't need to open it back up again that way all the gaskets seals stay good. Tightend all the screws and possibly stick the carb in a box or a bag to keep the dust out of the barrels and the float bowl.

Also try to keep the carb upright, some members have had trouble when then flip the carb upside down... I've never had that problem though.

Oooh a girl on these forums.

What I did last time I rebuilt a carb was use some saran wrap. Just covered the whole carb. It stayed nice and clean.

Is there a problem with a girl working on her own car? I grew up with a mom and and uncle who showed me how to work on cars and an exhusband who was more into hotrods than his family. 2 older brothers. I learned to work on cars because of them. I will use your saran wrap idea. I will be storing it in my basement. Thank you.

Good to know. I hate paying mechanics. Only do it when I don't wanna do the work myself or don't have the time.

    Doin good. How you doin?

Be carefull knocking that pin that holds the float bowl in. It's real easy to miss the nail or w/e your driving it out with & hit the float. From my exprerience re-building them, is to get some baggies & label the parts & number the bags as you go. Good luck with it & welcome to the board.

Im doing good, some asshole cut me off and ran me into a curb, but other than that. Good. Another tip incase you dont know, if you have alot of screws that you need to label, use a chunk of cardboard and drive the screw/bolt through it, and write what it is and where it goes on the cardboard.

    (offtopic)How old are you?
