sorry guys, we should've given you specs: (i've worked closely with Dan on this one...)

Bore & pistons: 0.040" over (nice tight fit, huh? and we like it tight! )
Block was completely stripped, sand blasted, and painted by the shop
Block was decked, just enough to get it level
Head was milled, same way, so there should be a minimal compression increase. (0.1-0.2?)

All rods and crank were balanced and resurfaced. feeler gauges used for bearings.

The parts for the short block came in a kit from TopLine, or ProLine... can't remember.

Ok, so the shop initially wanted a total of $1350 for just the short block disassembly, machine work, and assembly. However, after a little negotiation, we talked him down to a total of $700. Reason being, he took about 4 months to GET STARTED!!! He originally said it would only take 2 weeks, but he was in the middle of moving his shop from one end of town to the other, and he landed some deal with a racing company that dropped 21 engines in his old place, which he had to move to his new shop, etc etc.

The head was purchased online for $225/shipped. Fully rebuilt, tested for cracks and leaks, new springs, retainers, guides, seats, and valves. 3-angle valve job was done, but unfortunately, no P&P, and since it came assembled, we're not sure if that's something we want to bother with.

So, if you just want to bore your engine, most shops charge about $50/cylinder, and that's high. The balancing, though, is gonna get a little expensive. I'm not sure what that would add to it....

oh, and sadly, Dan wrecked his 3G. It's in the boneyard now.

so, he's trying to find another 3G for cheap, that has a good body. The motor, of course, is not an issue. So, if anyone knows of anything, let me know.

He might just end up selling the engine altogether, though. We'll see. I'm not sure if anyone here can actually afford this, plus shipping... at least soon, anyways.

do you know what forum your on .

as for the motor, it looks like the shop did a real nice job with everything. Man you guys pay alot for motor work, I got a b18a block bored, hot tanked, resurfaced, all internals shot peened and balanced then coated for $956.00 that included the price of new overbore pistons attached to the rods I already had. Good luck with your build

    yeah, he's happy with it.

so, potential buyer, eh? you might just be able to get it out of him, since i don't know if he'll ever put it in another accord. he's got his mind set on this Subaru XT6, for like 1400. I don't know why he wants to get that when he can easily pick up a 3rd gen accord here for less than 1000.... and put all that stuff back on it.
    But that's Dan.

...I don't know why he's not posting here more... prolly too busy doing "other things" on the net. lol

deal. But, i will NOT sell it to you if the compression is off, unless you REALLY want it. Dependent on how well its running at the time depends on how much ill sell it for.
