Window Tint

Ok, i want to remove this crappy window tint that I have and get it professionally done.

What's the best way to get it off... i don't want to scratch my windows at all.

I haven't ever tried taking tint off, and will be honest and tell you I am ignorant to the subject, but I remember someone telling me you can take a hair dryer and heat the film up and get it to come off. Maybe you could try it, but like I said, thats just what I heard. If your going to get it professionally done, they would take it off for you im sure. Good luck!

you could use a wet razor blade.. as long as you keep the window wet and you're cafeul you wont scratch it up

you might consider just having the tintshop do it

yeah, that tint looks terrible... fortunately the back hatch window is just the purple shade. There's no bubbles yet.... that window in the pic is the worst one.

i took mine off before, its not hard. For the four windows, i just used a razor blade and scratched it all off. For the back one, i was an idiot and didnt know how to get it off, so i just scratched it all off including the rear window defroster... if you can, try the blow drier, or even better a heat gun if you have acess to one. Good luck

don't use heat, heat makes it stick, soap, water and alot of razors, are all you will need. make shure the razors are new and sharp, NO KNICKS. take your time, it will all come off.

When you get it professionally done, have them remove it for you, some don't charge anything extra as well.

Soap and water is the way. Use a sharp new rasor blade and start from the top so the soapy water stays in between the tint and the window. Let the water do the work.

Just had mine done. I'm glad I picked the 15 (darker) rather than the 30 or 50 I originally chose.

I think I'm going to black out the side window trim to match the front and back I've done. If anybody's done this, could you please post pics? And are you glad you did this or not?

At the shop I went to it was $10 more for them to remove it. Definatley worth it! The tint was the orginal tint the first owner put on in 89 3m purple The problem they had with the back window was that it was sooo old and sooo dried on that there was no way other then to scrap it off. So there is a pretty good chance that you'll lose all rear window defrost fuctionality.

well, the back window is not bubbling at all actually, i've been happy about that. However the window tint is distorting and blurring my view, even where it looks like it's fine with no bubbles or anything. side mirrors are really blurry.
