also the nut for the main shaft was loose, likely explaining my problem with 5th gear but not the same problem for 3rd.

another fun fact was that besides the trail of tranny oil I left leading into the shop but I was greated by a healthy dose of tranny oil when I pulled the flywheel cover

yea I'm going back to my teg tranny and see if shit gets better. That was my original trans that was perfect when I pulled it and now it's all screwed up after a few days of driving??????????????

it was the differental, the pin that holds the gears/LSD together.
