Well I put it in over the weekend, and the SQ is great. Much better than the stock unit, which wasn't the worst I've heard to begin with. It feels higher quality than the Pioneer I had a couple years ago, and it looks pretty nice too. I was afraid it would look weird fitting into a double-DIN slot.

    Re: Pioneer vs. Panasonic

When I first purchased my 86 accord, It had a panasonic head unit in it.
The faceplate was missing, It had a little blinking red light to simulate and alarm I guess. I searched all over for a faceplate to no avail.
I called panasonic and they said they had one in stock for $89.
I thought what, $89 for a faceplate? for $10 more I could get a brand new sony explod. (btw the panasonic was about $180 new)
I went to ultimate electronics and planned on buying that sony explod for $99
I got to looking around, and comparing sound/specs/prices.I auditioned the panasonic that that came with my car (t the store) the pioneer deh-p4700mp had me sold.besides the sq and power, was the remote control!
at the time, it seemed like something I wanted, now I don't even use it.
the pioneer cost me $169 plus $10 for heat shrink splice tubes.
and what I really liked was : no fu**ing dash kit!
One thing that pissed me off: whoever installed the panasonic cut off the factory wiring harness!!! When i compared the panasonic and the pioneer
the difference was like day and night. I have a really good ear, and I think the pioneer sounds better. It's really a personal prefferance because not everyone hears the same. what sound good to me, may not sound good to the next guy. I prefer a certain curve on my eq in my car and on
my home system. I will sometimes adjust it with differnt songs and different
discs. I fine tune it till it sounds right. My friend keeps his eq setting completely flat. I think he is tone deaf. Its your ears, your music.
get what you think sounds best. Just like amps, thats another story,
I won't go there. this thread is long enough. btw: speakers are what makes
    the system!

OMG go pioneer, their decks are the best, i been around a good amount of others in other set ups, but i have a pioneer in my car and i love it, i always buy pioneer decks, maybe not speakers or subs or whatever but deck wise nothin beats the pioneers, lots of features in even cheaper models and TOTALLY clear if you have a good set up to send to from the deck
got the b18 in FINALY! HA HA HA!!! now its time to make my car look pretty

    Re: Pioneer vs. Panasonic

so far, i'm not horribly pleased with my panasonic. the pioneer did sound better by itself. the thing is that the panasonic has 5 pre-outs (front, rear, sub) that the pioneer didn't have, and can play MP3 discs. since the internal amp is only a stop-gap measure and i'm installing an 8-band EQ of my own, the things that the pioneer had that the panasonic doesn't are moot points.

I think mine sounds good, comparable to the Pioneer I had before. I really can't tell a difference.
