ok so i bought some 17's for super cheap from a buddy and there 205/50/r17 and iv read through the " so you wanna buy rims" thread and it said that a 205/40/-17 will be fine my question becomes will 50 sidewall make it so the tire rubs, havent tried them on yet , just wanted to check with you guys first

well im a complete moron cause the tires are actually 215/50's, so i put them on the car and they are stuffed in the wheel wells with a 1.75 drop BUT... they do clear, bairly!! im thinking since the rubber is crap anyways i can run the tires as they are caue i gotta buy new ones, but so you guys know a 215/50/r17 will fit CLOSE, BLOODY CLOSE, but they will fit, flame on i need it, ahaha

yea ok so i have a few more questions....
like i said before i was reading throught the sticky thread about tires and this is what it had to say
16" 215/45-16 (a tad taller +1.7%, requires that you have 45mm offset rims)
17" 205/40-17 (215/40-17 a tad tall at +2.4% requires 45mm offset)
18" 215/35-18 (requires 45mm offset. NOTE: tire is 3.1% too tall)
and what it doesnt say ( which is what i need to know ) is will a 17 inch rim that is 215 wide fit? i just put my rims on the car and there 215/50/r17 and there super tight, like said abovebut all it says about 215 tires is on 16s and 18s,

Your 215/50-17 tires should be about 647 mm diameter; 215/35-18 are about 608 mm in diameter. The higher aspect ratio tires that you intend to use are enough larger in diameter that they may not fit correctly even though the 215 mm width is acceptable in other sizes. It's not the wheel size and tire width that you need to look at, it's the tire diameter and width that will cause the tires to rub. A lower aspect ratio 215/xx-17 should fit fine assuming the wheels are the correct offset.

alright thanks AZmike, im thining i might just get 205/40s like everybody else and throw them on, i like the width of the 215 but it seems like it will just be to much work. thanx guys
