    cv half shafts

i have an 88 5spd and the right side the cv joint is clicking.what i was wondering is will a 87 auto halfshaft fit on my 88 b/c i replaced both half shafts on that car before the car went.
im not sure but i think i read that the auto is shorter than the standard half shaft but im not sure i checked the search and nothing came up.

The right side shafts are the same length AT to MT. Only the MT part has the damper. On the left side the A/T shaft in 7 mm longer.
