I was going on the highway the other day. and i started to floor it. I didn't know i was in first gear, and i redline my car. And it got to 40 mph. So i was just wondering, if you guys ever got 40 mph in first gear.

You must have been way past redline.
If the engine didn't overheat and still runs smooth, I wouldn't worry about it.

max speed before redline in the dx is 35 and the lxi is 33 in first gear. second gear is 60 in the dx and 57 in the lxi, third gear is 92 in the dx and 86 in the lxi
Ive only redlined my car in 1st once, 35ish mph
i normally shift 500rpm or so before redline, holding out that extra second or so just isnt worth it IMO.
my cousin works at the Honda stealership and somebody did a high speed shift from 5th to second and the pistons shot riiight up...
