    head is GREAAAAAAT.... ;-)

    http://dept25.com/cars/accord/images/motor/
some pics of the head i snapped while at the machine shop today...

everything is in place, the ARP's are in the block, bottem end is all balanced up, i guess the pressure plate was fucked up baad, also have everything all ported and port matched, and even my crank pulley is all balanced. crank was pretty good, they only had to shave off a tiny bit to make it perfect...

oh and the truck is my friend brians 67... its sweet. and for sale ;-)

machine work totals $800... that includes the following:

    boring my block .040
    shaving head
    decking the block
    valve grind
ported & polished bowls and intake and exhaust ports
port matched B16 AEBS manifold to head
    manifold modded to fit head
port match 70mm throttle body to 65mm intake opening
    balanced crankshaft
    balanced rods
    balanced crank pully
balanced clutch and flywheel and pressure plate
    head assembly
    cleaning it all obviously

umm i think thats all they have done so far. so basically it cost me 600 for the headwork and 200 for the rest of the machine work....

and i owe them 200 for parts for the king bearings and arp studs we are using
but thats not really money "to" the shop, i have to reimburse them cause they ordered tghat stuff...

the shop is called dan hall's automotive machine
they are located in portland oregon.

    (503) 289-5015
    1831 N Killingsworth St
    Portland, OR 97217

honestly i havent heard much thru the grapevine about them, but i had awesome reviews about their shop from a few friends who had done work there.

they are very helpful and friendly, and so far, i would reccomend them to anyone.

they are doing everything on this motor for me, and as soon as i find one, they are going to adapt an F22 distributor to that head as well. if you call, ask for Julie, and you can just tell her that chris with the a20 mentioned them... she is super cool.

anyway they are good people ,and since i idont know much about building motors, they have a lot of good suggestions, like not going with 11:1 CR, since i wont be able to daily drive and tune it right lol...

they have found me lots of stuff i didnt know existed though, like ARP head studs, and tri metal bearings. im not sure how expensive it is compared to other shops, but im very comforable with them, and they have good feedback for me (such as, they think im only gonna get 180 crank hp out of this motor) lol...

any other Q's? keep them coming... when i go down there next i will see if i can slide the intake on there, but right now they have allll my parts tucked away in a corner... so it will take some convincing... but once i get my cam in (just ordered a delta 282, it should ship monday) then the head can be assembled and maybe i can take it back and play with it!

btw my intake manifold is ugly as sin, there are pics of it somewhere... im thinknig of having my intake, and valve cover, and intake manifold all powdercoated flat black....
that would leave a shiny throttle body, and silver header, but i dunno. i might keep my jim c. blingin blue valve cover too...

dude u gotta help me find that accord f22 dizzy... shop is gonna build a sweet adapter plate (one you could likely *ahem* copy and make for hella cheap)

but there are no junkyards with 4gs around here, and the ones that do are not u-pull yards, and they want 285 for dizzy. no shit

yea thats the price for one brand new, I'll have to check to see if they have any new ones in. So what C/R you planing on running now if 11:1 won't fly?

looks like its only 125 shipped for a brand new distributor king dizzy...

and they didnt want me running 11:1 on a stock pj0, once i get all this obd1 shit sorted out i probably COULD, but i dont know if thats smart with the piss water that passes for premium, and the fact that i drive my car 500 miles a week.

anyway im going to buy the dizzy off ebay, and then buy a www.xenocron.com tuning package #2, comes with chipped p75, usb datalogging kit, OStrich realtime eprom emulator, and an innovative wideband! for only $520...

$520 + $125 = $745, not bad for all brand new parts and the abilitity to fully tune everything... that and the price for the adapter plate to mount the dizzy on the a20... probably around $50... so $800, and i get a wideband out of the deal... its not too bad IMO...

oh, and i am running 9.5:1 CR so that its fine on the PJ0 if i have to roll that way, and also so that if/when i boost it, that i wont have to deal with the bs of high compression turbo. also its a slight bump from the 8.8 that i had stock, so it will feel better than what i HAD. ;-)

I can't see the picture but, it sounds pretty cool Chris. If anybody else knows is 800 a fair price for that amount of work at a repudible shop? 180 crank horsepower should net you around 155 to 160 right? That would be quite the nice jump from 118! Glad to see it all coming togeather.

yeah im hoping for at least 160whp personally...

180 crank should be in the 155-160 ballpark, just like you said. also that is untuned power, so im pretty hopeful that i can reach at least 160whp after tuning...

honestly i dont know if the price i paid for the work i got was fair or not, bottom line, i have to get it done, and they were suggested to me, and im real comfortable with them. i guess i will find out for sure when my motor makes some nice power!

btw a note to you guys, distributor king dizzy for the 4g costs $112 shipped if you get ground shipping and use "hondatech" as a promotional code... not a bad price for a brand new dizzy. ;-)

i am not sure why the pics are down, my server is usually pretty stable. keep checking back every so often, the pics are great!

yea thats a great price for a dizzy and you won't have to worry about buying bum used parts. Might want to check about external coil which is 92 and up but that is a pic of an internal coil. That tuning package sounds decent, I paid $150 for my ECU which by the way ran like shit, yea fuck you and your so called experience. Innovative has some very nice widebands which I wish I would have got instead of the AEM. Plus that way I don't have to have my labtop hooked up all the time. Not sure if it would be worth to you to get the better innovative PLX that offers dataloging but I wish I got it for simplicity.

yeah i emailed them and made sure the one they are sending is external coil, and it is...so as long as they send me the right parts i should be ok. i am not sure about the plx kit vs the lm-1 or lc-1 , i have a lot more research to do before i buy... but at this point thats what i am leaning towards...

btw what are u talking about: "yea fuck you and your so called experience" lol...

i am not sure what data logging options i will have with uberdata, but i think i can do it with that program... i have never used it before though,. so i dont "REAALLY" know

oh the guy that "did my ECU", the only part of his work that was good is the sodering job. The basemap he made for me was a solid cell and ran super lean.

what basemap are you using? daryl used a stock p75 untuned and claimed that it ran ok... of course their setup is obviously way different, but it might be worth a shot to tune off of...

yea the stock P75 is the best set up for now, prob would make some slight changes to it being tuned on a dyno but it will do perfect for now.
