this mother f***ker is a bust!
all out waste of time.
I mean it's been 3 months since i put my name on the list, 4 months since it was initiated.
they said their gear would be their in a month.

It would be nice to at least get an update on the status of this.

i apologize for the unrealistic time span, and ill apologize to everyone on the board for getting your hopes up. it is still happening, very, very slowly. My friend just started his Freshman year at OU and is having a hard time keeping up with his schoolwork, much less this sidework. $2200 is hardly worth pissing away $8000 in tuition. As for myself, I would have given an update if I had the time to log on anymore. This will get an update when progress is made.
cool ^
No worries man. Was just wondering where things were at.

i understand but maybe we should find some one else that could do it for us. they one i have was 350 bucks....but that was for one maybe the cost could go down if we keep the same people interested. we just need a person that can dedicate his/her own time. il ask my friend since his dad is very knowlegeble when it comes to mechanical stuff...he built a machine to make gates in his own back yard....

im pretty sure to do it right he is gonna need a CNC lathe, but if you can get something going, go ahead lol.
Actually If I were making one of these I would use a CNC mill, but I'm not familiar with the capabilities of CNC lathes, so
Anyway, the machining part of this job is not that big a deal. Any competent shop could do it. The important part is the CAD model. It's not a trivial task to reverse engineer a part like this, especially the teeth. If they aren't just right the timing belt will wear out in a hurry. This is the part that takes time to figure out. So unless there is someone else out there that has the time and capability to come up with a CAD model, we'll just have to wait.
If I had the time I might give it a shot, but I don't. So I'll wait patiently.

What kind of tolerances are needed? Specifically on the teeth.
a mill would generate a shitload of waste, and they wouldn't make any product unless they sold them for 400 bucks each. a lathe will do it much more effeciently.
I must be totally missing something here. How is a lathe going to cut the teeth? And by lathe, I'm thinking of a standard non-CNC lathe.

I see there is lot's of people thinking this is not gonna happen. I was on the first buy of golden eagle cam gears. This buy also took a long time and me and some other people had to buy 2 or three extra just for the buy to happen. It takes lots of patiants for it to happen but it will. Someone just has to stay on it to make sure things are progressing. If i were back in the states i would helpbut i'm in the desert right now. In fact there needs to be a couple of more cam gears bought i'll even buy one or two but i'lljust turn right around and sell them on here. It would just be to get the quota filled to make this happen....Everyone needes to have a little hope to make it work.
I just had a look on Google and came up with a Cam Gear @ Auto Parts Warehouse. It's a Edlebrock for $137.70 - $223.52. I have no idea were these cam gears rate in the world of cam gears, but I just thought I'd pass it along. There is no doubt that I'd be interested in anything that we here a 3geez come up with, just let me know and I'm in. My suggestion is to keep this thread alive, in fear of confusing anyone who might be interested in this second purchase?
Hey Mase...I wish you nothing but the best of luck over there. Keep it tight.
Edelbrock does not make a cam gear to fit "A" series engines. The website is wrong. The listed SKU numbers are for gears that fit other cars...

If the GE price is $150 or less I would take one. Color is irrelevant.

Thanks cygnus...I thought it was a little too good to be true.
Hey 87lxiaccord, do you have any pics of your CAI. I just bought one off of ebay (6g) and I'm wondering if you had any problems putting it in?
