OK, whenever i press on the brakes, my headlights dim just a little bit.... it also dims whenever i use the blinker.... but not when i am using my amp....

did this always happen or just start if it just started then.........
thats not norm. but yes it sounds like the alt. going bad , take your batt to someone get it checked out. amps do desroy alt.s but thats just me. also the amp should dim your lights also but if the lights are dimming off other lights this sounds like an electrical prob some were. like a bad ground. witch your amp has a new ground maybe you need to check your main grounds make sure the ground to the engine and fram did not break.

When I press the brakes my stereo turns off, could this be the same thing and if it is, is there a certain type of alternator needed?
i would try and take the alt. out and get it tested. if not then its a ground prob./short.
