No salt is used on any oregon roads, thay use alot of red rock, (lava rock) and de-ice (also dosn't harm your car). i get more rust spots going to the coast then going snowboarding.

Road salt sucks, thank god oregon sticks to sand, i live approx 38 miles from timberline lodge (located on the highest peak you can drive to on mount hood, so im about 30 miles from snow in the winter, but yet to drive in it, im nervous......

I wish NY would take the initiative and not use salt anymore. Salt is the #1 reason why I dont wanna drive my wrx in the winter. which is a shame because its amazing in the snow w/ beefy snow tires.
Dont really want to drive the accord either as it's in great condition and I dont want to get it all rusty, but if I have to choose between the two..

is there some sort of coating you can put on your car to keep it from rusting from the road salt?

Re: Look our surprise this morning.....

In Quebec, we get our cars "oiled". THis is a special oil that's sprayed on the undercarriage and inside the body panels... it's messy when you work on the car but it sure helps alot. It does a good job but eventually, the car will rust anyway (takes a much longer time tough). There is only one solution and it's to store it away
