Hi Torque Starter for High Compression A20A3

I have an 89 Honda Accord LXi 4dr with a 86 Prelude 5sp. I just rebuilt my engine with custom built forged rods and 11:1 forged pistons. The problem I am having is my starter strains to turn my engine over. I just replaced the starter and put a 790 CCA battery in in. I need to know what starter I can get that will crank my engine over because I have a fealing this starter is not going to last. I need to know ASAP so please e-mail me at:

    [email protected]

    Thanks!

Try and swap out the motor, the motor itself is held on by two very long bolts. Maybe a motor built for a different honda starter will fit... I've always nottice most hondas sound the same when starting. I'm sure B18's and such have been built with high comp before and they have a lot of aftermarket parts for them...

Or find a place that rebuild starters.

There were a couple of starters available for the 3G accord.

What does the label says on yours?

I believe it is a Nippodenso starter but can't be sure. I talked to some starter people and they said to check my timing and to add another ground. My timing if 15BTDC. I just need to know what to do. I am suprised this is a new problem that nobody has run into before.

yah fix your grounds/check wiring, that little nippondenso starter should have enough power to turn over just about anything you can throw at it.

Upgrade all your wiring to 4awg. Mine cranks faster, and its stock, so it helped

yea sounds like your ground, that is a geared starter, they even make a geared nipondenso for v8s now, it even looks the same. that starter should be able to easily crank that motor.

Re: Hi Torque Starter for High Compression A20A3

I checked my grounds and they were all hooked up. I ended up replacing them all with 4 ga wire. After that it cranked a little better. I ran a few more grounds and it does great now! Thanks!
