people who've installed short throw shifter

i've got the shift linkage off it by loosen the the two bolts but how do you get the ball to come out of its socket?
In the end...it doesn't even matter.

I'd never throw away extra bolts.....hehehe.....it was a hidden snap ring down in the socket. ....there was so much grease on the ball and nylon socket I couldn't see that it was holding it in
In the end...it doesn't even matter.

ok well i will.....the linkage would be very difficult to cut and then reweld and i'm no geometry wizard but it seems as though then it would be too short to reach the tranny. I think the throw can only be adjusted as to the location of the ball on the shift lever.
In the end...it doesn't even matter.

remove the circular clamp inside the socket, inside the car and pop it out. There will be a part wrapped around it. Keep that and install it on your new shifter. Installation is opposite of removal.
