    Retorquing head after rebuild

What's the VERY earliest I should retorque my head? Most people seem to do it at 500 miles, but I think I could do it earlier. Say, 250.

Reason being, my valve lash has gotten a tad loose since I first started the new engine. I know retorquing the head means I have to redo the valve lash, so I thought I could kill 2 birds with one stone.

And when should I start using regular oil?

Why do you have to do them at once? Are you just trying to avoid pulling the valve cover another time?

Generally speaking, if you have TTY bolts, (torque to yeild) you should only need to retorque them once at 500 miles, but isn't required..

well i just checked them all, and all of them were perfect. not one out of spec.

however, the valve lash was a tad loose... still within spec, but barely, so I tightened them down. don't wanna have to deal with that later. thanks again guys
