You could get some msd ignition stuff and see if it works, they have spark rev limiters.
yea just get an msd box with one,get the soft rev limiter,it randomly drops ignition pulses to limit your top rpm,I need one myself,It's real easy for me to hit redline without really thinking about it.
It is easy to hit redline as i blew somthing up in my A20A2 dued to reving it to hard and it started makin loud nockin noises, hard to idle and that's how i'v got a brand new (out of the box) A20A3.
I don't want to blow this one, rather safe than sorry aye
And I got a blaster 2 coil, Will this soft rev limiter thing work with it?

msd-8728 for oem electronics,it's the soft touch rev limiter that works with your factory ignition, summit has it for 114.88

there are also a lot of aftermarket boxes that have rev control,the one i was talking about adds it to your existing ignition,I like the msd because the soft touch rev controls are easier on your engine. this is the same rev control that is in msd boxes that have a built in one.
You can't raise the rev limit with that thing tough. The ECU will cut the fuel at around 6500 on the A20A3.
If you have a carb, there is no stock rev limit so the MSD thingie can be a savior.

dude this is where listening to the engine comes in, your driving and listen to how high it revs, if you think its high look at the rpms,lol

checked it out pretty cheap but do they send stuff out of the states and to new zealand?

you need an aftermarket rev limiter for an a20a3 it has one already, and how did you get an out of the box brand new a20a3 8)
my A20A3 was a warrentee motor and had been sittin at the local honda dealers for the past 16-18years maybe,there were three motor there so i grab one for $480 after talking the guy down the price from $599.95 and I'v done about 3000k on it, pretty cool deal I thought so I grab it and I'v keep it carby from the preveous A20A2

yes the a1,a2 are carb a3,a4 are fi I had a a2 in my car till I brought the a3 which was a bare block and head, no mounts no gear-box no fi gear or carb,it had fi thomostat housin,new waterpump,so I change my carby gear,gear-box over and bits and peices,am I the only person here thats got new out of the box a3 and a carby powerd a3?
You kept that a3 carbed? I wonder what we would call that... A20A2/3

ok, I no what the soft touch rev-limiter does, what would happen if I got a hard rev-limiter or a dial setting one, would a hard limiter hurt anything?
just an update, my soft touch rev control is on the way, so I'll post up some info about it in this thread when it gets here, you have the option of using a box that requires an external control, or you can use many of the new digital boxes that have built in ones, I got a good deal on both my MSD 6T box, and the rev limiter, so I'll go with that route. The soft touch controls on both the MSD boxes and the ones built into the new MSD boxes, they keep the engine from loading up with fuel, unlike some boxes that just cut spark all of the sudden, it's a lot easier on your engine. the MSD boxes cut spark one cylinder at a time, then fire that cylinder on the next rotation, this stops fuel load up, sorry to post in an old thread, but this is useful info for a lot of people, and I figured I would just update this one

it's a technical post, they don't expire, I'll be updating it with some info shortly, it's better then 5000 identical posts on the same thing, if someone runs across this post who's never read it, it's just some extra information. everything in this thread is just as relevant today as it was originally
