    Keihin A/C Compressor

I have an 89 accord lxi and the a/c went out. I got one of those leak detector kits andthe freon is actually leaking from a seal in the compressor. This happened shortly after we had the system converted to R134. Can Keihin compressors handle R134? I would hate to buy a new one and end up with the same problem. I know there is alot in changinit from a Keihin to a Nippodenso. Does anybody have all the stuff I would need to do the conversion... besides the compressor because I will get that new. How much do you want? If there is nobody, what exactly do I have to change? I figure I have to change a few lines and the a/c bracket. Is that it or is there more to it than that? Please someone help me out here!

1st ?. How much R134a did you put it the system during the conversion. Should not have been more than 80% of the required amount of R12.

    2. Stay with your original compressor I have the same one and converted it back in 1997/8 really can't remember that far back. I still haven't changed the receiver/dryer either.

You should be able to pick one up on ebay if they haven't dropped at Autozone.

    Stay with premixed freon.

Keihin compressors are not recommended for R134 retrofits, you need the Nippondenso

You'll need to go to the junkyard and get the mounting bracket (part that bolts to the block) and the compressor.

I think the hoses are the same...

I had the Keihin and the compressor seized up after about 3 months of use with r134

    Everything else is compatable

I don't know what you guys are doing to your systems. But as I said to you all I converted my Keihin to R134a in 1997/8 and I still haven't changed the receiver/dryer.

The Keihin converts just as well as any other compressor. Do the extra work if you feel you must. But it is not nessasary.

Does the SE-i have the Keihin compressor? If so, I have had no trouble at all with mine in the four years since is did mine. You do need to add the oil stabilizer when you do the conversion.

I'm pretty sure there's another (slightly smaller I think I t was just called 10PAE) version of the nippon denso but I haven't located it

Didn't the Honda replacement kit have a Sanden (the best one of all three) compressor?

    Re: Keihin A/C Compressor

Yes, the Honda kit used the Sanden. Yes Keihin units work fine with R134. They just suck with either refrigerant. Currently the retrofit kit I have access to is about $1000, and comes with the compressor, receiver/drier, two hoses, misc. hardware, and the bracket. Otherwise, I can ship out a reman Keihin compressor for $350, including freight.
