    Hello again!

Bought another 3G, just for a day this time as it's gonna be sold to a friend of mine. Interesting thing is, it has the 12 valve A18A motor, but with a dual carb system.

Doesn't compare to the B20A equipped Si, but i thought you guys might be interested in the dual carb.

I think you have it mixed up w/ a 2nd or 3rd gen prelude cause
they have dual sidedraft carbs bud. There is no accord w/ dual side draft carbs unless it's been modified.

He lives out in New Zealand where they have the JDM cars so it does exist. Nice to see you back Steve!

so... ...will the dual sidedraft carbs fit on my A20? If so, how much work will it take to make it happen?

ok my mistake lol, i don't think it's dual carb at all I'll arrange for some photos anyway.

But to answer your questions anyway:

    It's a 1986 EXL

It is not a 2nd or 3rd Gen Prelude, hence the "accord" badge on the back and the four doors. There is a factory fitted dual-carb system, but it may be only on the EXL-S, which has the B18A twin cam motor and therefore probably won't fit an A20A motor.

There are so many damn models of 3G accords here that it's hard to keep track of them D:

    LX - NZDM A20A
    EX - NZDM A20A
EX2.0i - NZDM B20A EFi (NZDM cars have LESS restrictions than JDM)

    EXL - JDM A18A
    EXL-S - JDM B18A dual carb
    2.0Si - JDM B20A EFi
    2.0i-16 - JDM B20A EFi

There are more, but those are the most common.

Hmmm if you guys can fit a A20A carb to a B20A, then i wonder what the chances are of fitting the dual carb from a B18A to either car? I'll see if i can track down a EXL-S accord and take some photos.

If you can track it the EXL-S down at a junkyard, I'll pay you to ship me the intake manifold. Please let me know!

    Ummm why?

If the A20A and B20A manifolds are the same, then the B18A manifold will probably be the same too. Getting my hands on one will be very easy, but is it really of any use?

Sorry, I did some reading up. The dual carb manifold is for single barrel carbs. I think I knew that, too. Doh!

I got a price from the expensive local Honda junkyard

$168NZ, which is about $75US for the manifold and dual carb. It would be shit loads cheaper if i find a car being wrecked privately or at a non-honda specialist yard.

It would also make sense that if the B20A manifold fits an A20A then the B18A manifold would fit a A18A (which doesn't fit an A20A). Then also the B18A in efi trim that shows up in the usdm integras will work on an A20A. Honda doesn't seem to have 100% consistency of parts in its engine families though. Its a toss up, and would probalby be even cheaper just to import an intake gasket, that'll tell you right off if its possible.
