It just looks a little too massive for peoples liking I think, it's quite large... appears to stick out quite a bit and looks out of place. As a cup holder it looks cool, it looks clean and nicely made - it just doesn't look like it belongs where it is..

Nice idea anyways.. I like the ipod idea.
Anybody with a pulse and eyesight can get excited looking at $250,000 supercars. It takes a special kind of gearhead to drool over an Accord, Sentra, Corolla or anything else made out of parts found in dumpsters, scrap yards, and along the side of the highway.

I put my drinks by the ebrake too. I think it's a common 3gee thing with all of us.

Funny...back in the late 80's werent our cars supposed to be at the top of the class? So where were the damn cupholders?! Did the Acura Legend have any that we could somehow graft onto ours? I know the Ford Aspire (Assfire) had this cool one that slid out and popped up from in the dash; any way we could make something like that?

i have cupholders and i dont use the damn things. they cover up the stereo controls and dont fit well in the holders. i think carmakers have gone crazy with cupholders now. i counted in a van once that had 20 cupholders. in a 7 person van.

The Accord SEi did come with cupholders. they slid out of a bracket that sits where the cassette holder does on most of our cars, but these cupholders are hard to come by since the sei was only avalible late in 89 and they were the most expensive. Lucky for me my friends found and bought these cupholders for me as a birthday gift.

The first one I made was much smaller, it was made for 2 drinks, without the iPod dock, So basically It fit over the plastic around the stickshift. It is a little large, but it really isn't noticable when you're in the car, You're just looking at it head on so its like BAM! this huge ass thing, but it really isnt. I LOVE the iPod dock though, I just throw my iPod on there and the line in plays right through my stereo and i have a charger wired in behind the deck so my iPod charges on there too!

Back in the day, when MiniDisc was cool, I took out the ashtray and found that the MiniDisc player fits perfectly in that spot, so maybe an Ipod would too.
I agree with the sentiment that this custom piece is a bit big looking in the pic, but I totally respect the SIZE of those cup holders. I have the SEi unit and its too small to hold most drink containers.
    drinks by the ebrake ftw.
Perfection is simply a matter of replacing parts.

working on making some that have recesses areas under the center console by the ebrake handle. why don't you make the smaller one and mount the ipod overhead like i did with the xm unit? there is a thingy made with rubber gripper fingers that holds a cell phone, if you mounted that to one of those overhead chime things it would put your ipod out of the way. o've seen dedicated ipod holders that mount at different angles, one of these could be modified for overhead use. it saves a lot of room at floor level. besides i couldn't do that,it would block the altimeter

Well LXi Owners have a sunroof which doesn't leave much room left above, and i don't find it easy to lock an ipod up on the roof quickly when entering the car, this way i can put my iPod on the dock and pull it right off when i leave, keeping it out of theives hands...
