Smile New 88 Accord LXi Owner

    Hey all,
As you can tell by the name, I'm a Honda Convert. I've had expierience with their reliabilty and functionality, and to an extent their performance. After many problems and related junk with other makes, I am firmly a Honda guy from here on out.
I am a happy owner of a new 2005 Civic LX, which is shaping up to be one of the best cars I've ever owned. Just this past weekend, I picked up a pristine 1988 Accord LXi Sedan from an elderly couple with 161,000 miles on it after the Mitsubishi Eclipse decided to finally give it up.
A little background about myself, I attended Vocational School during high school for auto mechanics, picked up several ASE certs, and worked in that field for a few years, before getting tired of the work, and then going in the Marines (gotta love that rational). In the Marines I was trained up in computers (ask me about the cars I owned while stationed in Japan), and am now working as a government contractor in and around Washington D.C. My wife just got pregnant, and we are getting ready to buy our first house. I was trying to get the Mitsu to last as long as possible, so we could get everything else settled. I already mentioned how that worked out . I have always been a fan of old American iron, muscle cars - especially Buicks. That is where I get most of my power kicks, but I may tinker with the Accord to get it better in the twisty stuff.
The Accord I just purchased was just supposed to ferry me back and forth to work, but I've already become attached, and forsee many years of use and improvments. I found this site with help from Google while researching info about the car.
About the Accord: It's beige with a dark brown interior that is in mint condition (the glove compartment door is broken a bit). Five speed, A/C, cruise, moonroof, power everything, and bone stock. There are a few little problems that you may see me asking about in other areas of the board, that are just related to the age of the vehicle. Got real lucky with the purchase, just $700.00. I'll post pics as soon as I can.
Thanks to the mods in advance for putting together a meeting spot and a knowledge base for people like me, I'm sure it'll help a bunch. See you all out on the board!

Welcome! Enjoy your ride, you'll be pleased with your car in the many years to come if you take care of her. I have mine for over 7 years and planning to keep it for another 10 at least if possible.
