    Project , Built A20 - Status , Complete

    www.a20turbo.com/features/chris.html

well my built motor is finally done. i have a lot of work to do still, prepping the car to take the new motor, i havent even pulled the old motor out, but im replacing a lot of stuff, and im going to throw the battery in the back and rewire some stuff, and replace radiator and hoses while im at it. probabillly will end up replacing axle seals and cv boots just for kicks too.

please excuse the website. there is really nothing on it yet... im going to get a lot of good info together, but im pretty busy so bear with me. for now i just have a breakdown of my parts, and hopefully i will have pics of the goodies soon enough.

    thanks for looking!

gave it a quick scan. seems good so far, im trying to figure out if i wanna go NA or turbo. but going OBD1 first is whats currently in my mind...(if all goes well, ill go turbo next, but if not, then NA).

just curious, where did you find those titanium springs for the head. or better yet, how many parts for the block/head are custom made? and who sells those bearings for the block?

Congrats. I hope that the engine will perform to your expectations. Anyway, it will be good for a couple of years for sure. Those A20A's are undestructible!

Oh no they aren't, just blow one little coolant hose and find out!!!

Other than that they are pretty much bulletproof!!!

lol im NOT boosted. the 'motor' is done.... its not even installed yet. in fact the head isnt even on the block yet. but i have all my motor parts, and its out of the shop and ready to put in my car. even then i have a lot more $$$ to spend before its boostable

cke: i already have the phrenology 16.5 lbs special flywheel on there!

carot: yeah i seriously hope so too. i put enough $ into it hehe.... i think its very feasable considering other dynos and results i have seen. such as openloops 142whp run. :P i should easily have 20whp on that motor...

but thanks for the support, ill be posting some pics of the motor maybe sometime today... its sort of assembled a bit, so they wont be the most glorious pics, but the proof will be in the timeslips.

a reliable 160whp would be nice.. i havent read you set up yet what kind of pistons are you running, compression #'s? that thing would be a monster boosted. hope yer gonna adress the traction? good work man can wait to see it in the car..

    ^the new ride^ Mazda rx-7.. gettin 'r done without pistons since 1978

Re: Project: Built A20 - Status: Complete!

i am running a custom set of forged diamond pistons with chrome steel top ring, the ring thickness is 1.2 1.2 2.8, so that fatty 2.8 ring should handle the boost well, and also cometic copper head gasket.

the compression ration is approximately 8.46:1, so you can tell its being built with turbo charging in mind!

it should be reliable, but of course i dont know if im gonna make 180whp or 100whp... only time will tell! i feel that 160 is realistic though

im reasonably sure the rev limiter kicks in around 6600 or maybe 6900... 12000 would be a blown motor or at least completely destroyed valvetrain and toasted bearings!
