    Son Of A Bitch!!!

    I just found out the engine i replaced in my 3g is from an 88,my car is an 89.i check the specs and i found out that i'm short 10hp and 8ft.lbs of torque ,i'm going to call the company in the morning and tell them what the fuck.i cant beleive i didnt check out the numbers before i put the engine in,i feel like a dumbass right now .Does anyone know how it gets this lil extra power i checked and the bore in the 89 a20a3 is 3.26,and the 88 is 3.25 ,they both have the same stroke and such.I dont know if i wanna pull it out because its a good engine any suggestions will be taken into consideration and appreciated thanx ahead of time.

    i'd just say to keep it....

    I mean... I was always told that the 88 and 89 put out 120 hp and the 86 and 87 put out 110. (That's for the LX-i btw)

    I don't know about the bore of the engine, but i know that the power increase from the 2 motors was the intake manifold and the throttle body. I was always under the impression that all LX-i engine's were the same, just different intake/exhaust manifolds.

    dude, what the fuck?!?! now you can't beat b16's anymore. see had you have that other engine, you wouldve owned them from here to kingdom com.


    but yah, that sucks ass, you gotta make sure you know whats goin in your car man, expecially when someone else does it for you.

    if its fuel injected, it has the same HP. the only difference was between the carb'd and EFI motors. I think the SEi had a little more power, but its not that much.

    either way, your car is so old, that isnt going to make ANY noticable difference.

    The engines from 88 and 89 are exactly the same. 86-87 had the 10 less hp.
    No projects. Life consumes my time and money.

    I did the work myself,the company i was refering to is the place where i got my motor from.

    and its only cause the 86-87 efi had a compression of 8.8:1 compression and a 4-1 exhaust manifold and not that great of an intake manifold. but other than that, the bottom end and the block is pretty much exact.
