When I start up the car and it goes up to 2000, then drops to normal idle, it rattles around 1200. Also, when I back out of a parking spot, or am driving slow, this happens. It sounds like it is coming from under the car. My clutch is almost through, and one time, it started rattling when I put the clutch in to slow down. Could it be the clutch? It almost sounds like something scraping like the muffler, but is isin't. Once I have been driving around for a while, it doesn't occur.

what kind ratle? metal to metal or like shaking.
if it is metal to metal your catalityc converter heat sheald is probably rusted. just bended down a little and it should fix it. but if it is shaking i am not sure what it is. you will have tell us more what have you done to the car lately.

Well, I can definetly tell that it is metal that is rattling. I will check out the converter heat shield. This started right after I had the carburetor vacuum control and 2 vacuum lines replaced, the left axel seal replaced, and the a/c belt and compressor nut replaced.
