I've already done the vacuum line removal mod, but now my wife managed to blow the head gasket.

Way to freakin' go.

Anyway, I'm pulling everything out, and going with the same 'it's a carb'd 4 banger, wtf does it need this extra shit for?' attitude, I'd like to know if any of these plastic UFO solenoids actually do anything interesting.

And why on earth are there two lines (one large, one small) running from the exhaust manifold, up? They're going away, too

Just wondering, in case one of these is actually a fuel pressure regulator, or something that IS ACTUALLY NEEDED FOR THE CAR TO RUN.

Ones to create vacuum using the exhaust... the other is to recirculate exhaust gasses.

Exhaust manifold
- EGR (Small Tube)
- Air Suction Pipe (Large Tube)

we don't have a fuel pressure reg

The only lines that a fuel lines are the red ones.

Good. The only things going back on this motor, are a new water pump (what the hell, it's almost off anyway, and this one was replaced @ 150k), new timing belt (replaced last with old water pump), the head/valve cover, and the intake/carb.

Everything else is getting capped off.
