LXi are fuel injected; LX are carbed. LXi's come in the coupes, sedans, and hatchbacks;. LX are all sedans. All LXi have an A20A3 motor; all LX have an A20A1 motor. Sedan LXi's all have sunroof while the coupes and hatchbacks are optional (mine doesn't have one); LX's don't have sunroofs. This is all I could think of for now.

    120hp vs 98hp
Rear sway bar vs NO rear sway bar (smaller diameter bar in front)
4-2-1 header vs 4-1 (just different, not really performance related, .errr..well depends)
    Bigger brakes front vs smaller
Bigger wheel vs smaller (for stock)

Sorry I had to rub it in.

hey anchovies, everything you said, I agree with as long as you qualify that statement by saying that the diffs. you mentioned only pertain to the 88-89's. b/c the 86-87 LX-i's had the smaller wheels, and smaller brakes up front. But then someone got smart and realized that the car had too much power for them little dinky rotors to stop it, so they bumped it up in 88.

Oh yeah, and the 120hp was only with the 88-89's. I think that the hp spec for the 86-87 was like 114.

    My bad
The HP spec for 87 FI is less but it's specified at a different rpm. It's the same engine anyways.

True. Damn bastards that Honda are, they only made DX and LX-i. It's like either all or none. (with the exception of the SE-i package.)

there are some sensor differences in the efi models and the carb models as u can realize. the blocks are interchangeable bwt the carb and efi and the efi motor will work on the carb and vise versa. the only difference in the carb (for all 4 yrs) and the efi(88-89) is that the carb had 9.1:1 comp ratio compared to the 9.3:1 on the efi.

also note, the Lx-i came with driver adjustable lumbar support (did the hatch have it? i know the sedan and coupe does).

the lx-i (coupe and sedan) came with 6X9 speakers in the rear. >> could be for just the 88-89 but not sure

    ok...

The Hatch DX did not have the lumbar support on the seats, and the seats were a diff., less durable material. Frot the DX, the rear speakers were an option (they did not come standard, but were available at an extra cost)

The LX-i hatch did have lumbar support, and came with better upholstery. It also had a dead pedal, which the DX did not. The sound system was better, using a dual cone speaker up front, along with a better head unit. The rear speakers were standard in the LX-i, and were, like the front, 6.5". Also, the LX-i, had courtesy lights on the doors, along with a longer compartment on the door for storage. In the back, the side panel/outer armrest area had an upholstered insert in it, however the DX did not.

I think that just about covers the Hatch pretty well... ...let me know if i missed/messed up something.

how about controls guys? u guys misssed that. The lx, lxi and sei used push button style vent controls where the DX was manual slider.

The differences are way too much to list. But if ur planning to buy a 3g, i would suggest u get a LX. its the next best to a lx-i though lx and dx are carbed.

    I thought that the 3gees has 3 types of engine a 98hp, 110hp, and 120hp

the 98 hp came on some dx models
    the 110 came on 86-87 lx and lx-i s
    the 120 came on 88-89 lx-i and se-i s w/the dual stage intake
    ( right)

    Re: Diffrences Lx - Lx-i

and it has a fold down center rear armrest, and the back seat unlocks and folds down.
Now, add leather, and a steering wheel mounted sound system control for the Bose Stereo and a fancier wheel, and you got the SE-i which I haven't been able to find, till AFTER I got the LX-i, which this unit is a POS.
