    torque specs

    I was woundring if any of u knrew any east torgue specs i can check on a 1989 honda accord (carb) Easy ones for EX. tires tranny plug any thing else and what is the torque specs they have to be set to

    I never can seem to upload them zip files on there.

    Run down on a few torque values; in foot lbs.
    Auto transaxle drain plug.................29
    Manual drain pug............................30-40
    Rear wheel bearing spindle nuts........30
    Wheel lugs.....................................80
    Cylinder head bolts
    Step 1..........................................22
    Step 2..........................................49
    Oil pan bolts.................................. 9
    Valve cover bolts.............................7
    Exhaust manifold to-cylinder head.......22
    Exhaust to manifold header................40

    Make sure for the lugs that you do the proper criss cross pattern or yourll bend the wheel also

    wheel lugs don't take 80lb of torque. you would snap the bolt.

    if the wheel lugs are not to 80 what else is it 80 is kinda high

    man i thought the chilton says 85-92 ft lbs. i throw mine on at 90 and have never ever ever had a problem.

    my brother torques them by hand, with the tool that came with the car, wheels havent popped off yet,lol

    Haynes manual says 80 foot lbs. on the lug nuts, can't find it on my Chilton manual. I put mine on at 100 ft. lbs.

    The general ft. lbs. of torque on any cars is about 100. If the stud breaks at 80 foot lbs., you have some bad studs.

    For sure.

    Every spec. I've ever read on lug nut torque called for something in the range of 80lb - 90 lbs. This is a pretty common practice across the different makes out there.
