    A20 turbo

What is needed to be added for an 89' Accord LX-i to have a turbo installed? What is needed to be rebuilt for the motor to handle it?

you need fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator and possibly FMU on the fuel side.

for timing side you need either msd btm, nothing (scary), static retard (lame), or obd1 swap so u can tune your ecu and handle both fuel and spark curves.

fuel curves, either SAFC, or obd1 swap that u can tune...

or if ur rich get the AEM EMS and call it a day..

ok now i was wondering even if i get a turbo that can do 5-10 psi will i still need to have a fuel management issue even with a low boost pressure? regardless of the transmission being auto, would the engine see any power gains from even 5psi of boost i would mabye have to expect a little bit better fuel milage

You will see some gains from any amount of boost. You will need fuel management no matter how much boost as well. You are forcing more air into the engine. Without additional fuel, you'll run lean and blow up your motor.

With 5 psi, you can probably get away with just using an FMU.
