    lower ball joints 89 lxi

    the problem i have is the ball joint is pressed into the knuckle
    there isnt enough clearance to press the ball joint out the bearing is in the way

    how the hell are you supposed to relace it?

    Take it to a shop and have them press it out for you or to the Honda dealership it self and have them press it off.

    There a diagram showing how (the position of the arm) to do it. One person says he has pounded them out with a seldge hammer. I never have.

    I guess you got the big nut off?

    FSM factory service manual. It shows the tool and the way to press it out.

    Most of your local parts palces or NAPA's have a samll machine shop's and can press stuff out for you.

    still looks like the bearings and hud need removed

    i dont think you have to take the bearing out but you will have to take off the axle nut and the black ring of metal that covers the bearing from the inside (which is what u might see as blocking the ball joint)
    plus look for a circlip that might be hidden by the balljoint boot on the underside of the knuckle

    after that i swung it out off the axle, let it rest on a jack and beat the crap out of the joint with a sledge from the bottom
    although that would be bad if you arent replacing it
