It's not that difficult to replace. Should only take you 20-30 mins.

not at all. just pull up your trunk carpet, and pry up the little circle metal lid thats tarred down. there should be some 10 mm bolts, take those out, and theres your fuel pump. dont inhale.

does the car makes a click sound when turning the ignition switch !
remove the gas line to the top of the carb and see if gas goes there when ignition is on !

theres no clicking. I have FI by the way. The problem i'm having is starting it sometimes. It will start then stumble and die and won't start for like 15 min. But otherwise everything is fine. It's never just died while driving or while at lights or anything. I checked the ECU also and theres nothing new there.

just open that little thing i said, and start the car (or try) and get someone to listen to whether or not its working, you'll hear it whirring.

and the hardest thing about installing a new one is splicing the new pump motor onto the old metal shaft thing.

i didn't smell anything earlier tonight on the way to or from practice. i guess u could say it happens when its hot. its only happened a couple times and they were both this week. It happened after my car was in the sun for awhile. Usually i park it in the shade but couldn't those times. Plus this week has been hella hot down here.
