Black Box removal. and manual choke control.

Ok well. i guess i can try these 2 options. tried searching for some how to's on these last night but kinda came up short handed.

If i could get what vacuum lines i NEED or even a full how to or digram on removing the box that would be great.

Also how to do a manual choke control.

Thanks again guys, probably the most helpful forum ive found in a long while.

Awesome. Thanks a ton. Got the day off tomorrow, hope i can get it all ready.

    Few questions

1.Will my fans still auto kick on if there is no termosensor in my radiator?

    2. any pre cautions i should know about? the manual choke is the only part that looks shady to me. do i need to buy a piece for that?

    3. Whats the best for vacuum plugs.

nah i dont think so, you will have to rig it up some how (im lost on that one :P)

    2. any pre cautions i should know about? the manual choke is the only part that looks shady to me. do i need to buy a piece for that?
shouldnt need to, but since it is winter over there it is prolly suggested that you do, i wouldnt have a clue about the manual choke though

    3. Whats the best for vacuum plugs.
well you might not want to, but i just used some tape lol, just made sure it was covered up good, and tape it all up secure, worked for me

Re: Black Box removal. and manual choke control.

Why are you getting rid of your fans thermosensor?

If you bypass it your fans will always be on when you turn on the car, if not and you don't have anything hooked up then your fans wont work at all.

Vacuum plugs are rubber, I use the "HELP" brand plugs, but sometimes I find good sillicone ones.
    you'll need 5/32 and 3/8, or was it 3/16

damn, i though we lost that page. Nice.

    1. your will not auto kick in if you remove that sensor.
    2. manual choke, you can get a kit and try to custom make it. it shouldn't be that hard. I took the choke off my carb. it idles fine when it was hot. but manual choke would do wonders in the winter.
    3. like Mike said, just get regular ones from autoparts store.
I got assortment and i had more than enough left over.

Re: Black Box removal. and manual choke control.

picture one, this is where your PCV valve goes. i would order the rubber boot (it is on the intake) and valve from a dealer. Reason for replacing rubber boot, well after many years of hot and cold it turns into very sensetive material that can crack and cause leaks.

picture two, you can leave that valve right where it is.

picture three, one in purple is speedo cable and one in red is Automatic trans cable.

you can't remove black box on efi. it will triger error and your car won't be running right.
you can remove it if you convert to OBD1, but it would require a lot of custom work. only handfull of people done it.

you can convert to a manual choke: https://www.3geez.com/forum/showthrea...oke+conversion

or just take the whole thing off and unscrew the little screw holding the rod in there and pull it out

Re: Black Box removal. and manual choke control.

well if you want to have a manual choke you have to keep the stock choke plate and make somekind braket to hold the choke cable that will connect to it.

Ok im pretty much done, got a manual choke, no black box and a cleaner looking bay.

    1. Where do i connect my distributor vacuum lines to?

    2. what do i do with all the open black vacuum valves in back of my manifold?

    3. Can i just have my filter on the carb? or should i hook it back up to stock stuff?

    4. Do i unplug all the little vacuum filters though my car? or leave them plugged in, donno if it will upset the ECU or not.

Re: Black Box removal. and manual choke control.

    1. connect the vacuum lines for distributor to the back of manifold. there is one main vacuum port. conect there.
    2. open black vacuum valves can be caped off for better look.
    3. are you talking air filter? yes, reuse your stock airfilter unless you made someother adapter to use aftermarket airfilter.
    4. since carbed accord doesn't have ecu, you don't have to worry about it. unplug all of them and enjoy.

Re: Black Box removal. and manual choke control.

    1. Where do i connect my distributor vacuum lines to?
#2 goes to the back of your carb vacuum, like this:
http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...3_VRD_noin.gif but put #2 straight to the back of the carb
#25 i think you either dont use it, or put a "T" fitting that goes to #2 and to the back of the carb

    2. what do i do with all the open black vacuum valves in back of my manifold?
plug them (that's what i did)

    3. Can i just have my filter on the carb? or should i hook it back up to stock stuff?
you can just put your filter back on and if you really want to, plug the holes left in it, although i wouldnt really know, i never thought of it till i read that :P

    4. Do i unplug all the little vacuum filters though my car? or leave them plugged in, donno if it will upset the ECU or not.
