    Wierd brakelight problem

After driving for a while my car's PGM-FI light will come on, and then a little later the brakelight warning light will come on, but my brakelights are still working fine. If I turn the car off and then back on quickly it goes away for a while. Has anyone ever had this bizaar problem?

Have you checked to see if the ecu is throwing a code?

I don't think the license plate lights have a current sensor in them but I will check the manual

lincense plate lights, brake fluid is probable. the reason it goes off is because it only comes on once you have pressed the brakes. i had one out not too long ago.

the license plate lights do not have current or fault sensors on them so they should not affect your brake light indicator in any way.

My 87 Lx did the same thing. Turned out to be the connection to one of the current sensors, a little black plastic box under each taillight assembly. Also, one for the rear window light. The wrong brake light lamps will cause it also. Good luck. The brake fluid reservoir low fluid switch is also on the same circuit.
