    Coating inside of engines...

Ok if this got your attention than you are probably wondering what i'm talking about... I heard of people coating there engines(mostly below the piston bores) with a paint like substance to allow oil to flow more easily. So i researched this product and its made by GE called Glyptal for electronic components like armatures and other electric motor parts. Do you guys know of this and do you think it is worth doing to one of our engines for performance applications.?

Not sure what coating you are referring to but there are some for the combustion chamber...
    Engine coatings are a plus.

With coatings, heat engery remains in the combustion chamber...

Without coating the heat is allowed to escape or bleed/soak into other places . Heating the engine block it's wasted engergy, if it heats the piston it's wasted engergy, heats the valves... waste. All that heat/energy is best served to drive the piston down and turn the crank.

An efficient engine would be cold to the touch, since all the heat would be converted to mechanical energy driving the crank.

If the coating reduces friction then thats good too.

Well actually this is for the crank case(inside)... To allow oil to drain into pan and not stick to walls and rotating components....

i would think you would want your oil to stick to rotating components, but thats just me...

nm, i guess you would want it on metal on metal rotating places, but thats about it...

So instead of the crank scraper you want the teflon non stick engine...

usually they use this to seal up porous castings and help the oil drain back to the pan easier, i dont think its meant for actual rotating parts etc

Recommended by many high performance engine rebuilding books, Glyptal seals the tiny pores left in metal after bead blasting and leaves the engine block interiors smooth. Helps keep the oil clean and flowing freely. Acid and oil resistant. Used on generator and alternator armatures, Glyptal has great electrical insulating properties, too!

Damn he painted the inside of his eclipse with rustoleum... I hope he doesn't paint the crank... Get it knife edged instead

Nah, someone posted, I think it was a different Mike; about engine coatings on valves and such. Search 3geez for engine coatings, you might find the thread... it was made last year I think.
