Re: 9 second a20!! a to b series tranny adapter plate!!

I would agree with the comment about the "strength" of the b tranny. It's got alot more aftermarket support like anything else. But, the reason for changing *I'm assuming* is the fact that on-top of the 30pounds of boost he's running a direct port nitrous system. The turbo adds power, yes, but, the instant hp that's added by the n02 just rips trannys and half-shafts to pieces. So, I'm assuming that he wanted beefier internal tranny pieces as well as beefier axles that can handle the nitrous. B/c obviously if he's using direct port then he's using some serious serious jets!

Not to mention, his ratios are going to be much shorter now with B series tranny.

Cant get enough of the vids.

BTW, I'm VERY curious to see how your car would run on the track with a b-series tranny. I mean, I've seen your vids and I still bow down. What is your opinion of having the b-series tranny in your car

Re: 9 second a20!! a to b series tranny adapter plate!!

the bseries adapter plate allows him to simply bolt up a Bseries transmission to an A series block. the problem is that not all of the holes would like up, so its not a direct bolt on. so he builds a adapter that bolts to the A20 block, and then has the appropriate holes in it to bolt a bseries transmission to it.

im not sure exactly what part of the tranny breaks, but when you have enough power to run 9's in the qtr mile, drivetrain stuff breaks... there doesnt really need to be a reason...

it is interesting that he is using an a20 in this car. i wonder if its because:

    a) the a20 is acually really good and worth using in race applications
    b) he already had the motor so why not
    c) just to be different

it would be cool if (a) was the case and the a20 is just the best choice! we might start seing some aftermarket engine parts if civic drag guys start building a20s! :P it sure couldnt hurt anyway!

that was actually what i was thinking

maybe we should hit up JE pistons and see if they are interested in making some, since they already have the specs apparently.

the REAL reason why he uses theses A20A (i use these cause he have a few ones... like 5-6) Cause they cost nothing and he can find a lot of 'em for real cheap at any junkyard. BTW, on of his sponsors is a junkyard who giving him those A20A.

    A) seems like a good answer when you see his reply on H-T
we held in the prelude in the begining of last season quebec's fastest honda for a while, I think we're the 2nd fastest sohc next to bisi.
. I think being a 2.0L SOHC that is solid as a rock and can hold very high boost + the availability of the blocks dosent hurt either.
