    new paint idea

[img] [/img]ok,I am still doing panda, but have decided to do it a bit different, there is a body line that runs near the top of the hatch, near the top edge of the fenders, all the way back to the back of the car,I have decided to paint everything above this line black, and leave everything below it white. I don't know yet what to leave the trim that divides the center of the car. I'll probably leave it black, but what do you guys think about the paint scheme? oh yea, somewhere near the rear of the car, probably on the c pillar,I'm going to put Fed after midnight in small cursive script. not obtrusive or anything. probably in gremlin green.

    Re: new paint idea

I can't give a fully informed opinion without a photochop or illustration, but...
Imagaining this in my head, I don't think it will look good at all. Remember that black gives a sense of weight when used in conjuction with other colors, so with black on top of white your car will give off the impression of being top-heavy!
Personally I don't think it will be very aesthetically pleasing, but I'd love to see an illustration or something to get a better idea.
Good luck either way, you've done a mind-blowing amount of work on your car, you should do whatever the hell you want with it.

Of course I'm lazy. If I wanted to work on my car I'd have gotten a DSM

Hrmm.... i'm sure you could pull that scheme off on a car like that old charger(I think that's what it was) but on a 3g, i don't think it would look that great. I'm going to agree with the weight thing that speedpenguin brought up.

Honestly, for your car i'd rather go a solid color... Something unordinary, like a dark blue or a dark green.

can't wait to see it painted

Well that doesn't look too bad, but I still think with a panda color scheme it will look kinda off. Your car isn't as long or as low as that one. But I'll be delighted if you prove me wrong. You've been doing an awesome job with your car so far.

    Re: new paint idea

well the reason I was thinking that was the car actualy has a bodyline just like that charger,it runs from near the top of the front fenders right through the door handles, all the way to the back. it's hard to see but it runs the entire length of the car. as soon as I can find a good sideview pic,I'll see if someone can photochop it for me. i'm kind of throwing around ideas right now. it will def be primed next quarter in school, I still need to finish removing all the trim to get it ready for primer. what i'll eventually do is create a photobucket album with all the pics divided into sections. I have a car domain site, but i need to update it a lot,and car domain sucks. I had no idea when I bought this car i would still be working on it seven years later. LOL

I don't post much but I have an opinion on this thread. The charger has a lot of interesting and curvy body lines below the waistline which is where balck meets silver. The fact that the accord is alot flatter on the sides may make it look kind of plain. If you want to two tone (which I'm actually thinking of doing myself) I would use the knee line (the rubber trim) with black on top and the other color below. I think this would show off the subtle arches over the wheel wells and hide the black rubber a little.
As for the color, I would definately do the black but I would choose another contrasting color besides white. FIrst white would always be dirty and I think the contrast is too dramatic. I think silver or gunmetel would be the most tasteful choice. But it's your car you make it what you want.

i think it actually sounds kinda cool. if we could all visualize the body line, i actually think i know what your talkin about. i do think, though, that it wouldnt work very well unless you shave the side moldings. think about it seriously though, its just another drop in the bucket compared to the work youve already done. and the contrasting colors comment maybe true as well, id just try to find a way of transition. sorry to bring your thread back up, just thought you might want more input.

I know what you mean, that is my other choice,to do black from the trim on down, the reason I wanted to keep the white was the difficulty in repainting under the hood to match a different color, also the greek white is pretty rare, you can find most honda colors even back to the seventies in touch up paint, but not this color. I'm going to repaint the door jambs and under the hatch of course, but I don't have the time to yank the motor and everything associatd with it to paint under the hood. I will someday, then just repaint that area, but not at the moment.

I always thought that a black and lime green or another color that stands out 2-tone paint job looked pertty cool as long as it was done right. All the work you have done is going to make the car unique and stand out, so you should take your time to pick a paint scheme that will look great with all the other work and make it that much more badass.

    Re: new paint idea

Lost: After looking at your Cardomain site, and seeing all the mods you've done to this car already, I would have to say that you should paint the car in whatever style is going to make you happy. If you like the photochop pics with the black on top, go for it. I just bought a 3G accord LX, and am planning on painting the bottom black (mainly to protect it from the nasty New England salty roads around here.....so I'll be using something other than regular auto-paint), and the top half will remain the gold color it is now. The point is that you're the one who will look at the car every day.

Having said that, I also agree that painting the top half black would a: make it look a tad top-heavy, b: being originally from NC, I know what happens to a black car in the sun in the south.....it gets HOT inside....
C: it would also be different from what most guys do with their cars, and therefore make your car even more unique than it is already. I for one think the mods you've done to your car are awesome, and I'm very impressed that you took care of the mechanicals first.

would love to see pics when you get it done!

    Re: new paint idea

I think I am going to do the bottom half black now that I think of it,more delays in painting now, stupid, innorant asinine drivers, went out to the car and apparently someone backed into the hood just past the headlight door, pushed the entire corner of the hood back about a quarter of an inch,I had all those headlight doors and the hood lined up,what really pisses me off is the fact that they just left it that way and drove off. now i have to pull the hood off, pull the grill, pull off the hood scoop off,and straighten that entire hood corner. also someone left a dent all the way down the drivers side door. so more work with the dent pulling machine before primer.

I think your car will look awesome as long as you don't do the black and lime green xOx Bit suggested.

well it was originally going to be sublime purple, but my wife said she would refuse to ride in it,so it's going to be black and white, green is too fast and curious,I'll get the body straight, just pisses me off,i shouldn't have to do work over twice before i even get the paint on.

I guess when people see your car they figure it's not a car anyone cares about.

Lost: sorry to hear about that man.....if I still lived in NC, I would offer to give you a hand....my dad and I used to own a paint/body shop.... I did mostly prep work (sanding, blasting etc). I remember I once spent a week blasting out the bed of a 69 El Camino....that car was sweet when we were done with it.

only major body flaw on mine is a spot on the driver side fender where it's rolled under in the back between the fender and the door....I can't decide if it will be easier to pull it back out by taking off the door, or pulling the fender. Any tips Lost?

I would pull the fender, eaisier then the door, then if the edge of the door is bent, you can use a dolly to straighten it while the fender is off. thanks for he offer of help,I can fix this,it just pisses me off to have to do it all over again after all this metal work. neither of the lights or the hood was in alignment when I got the car,I had it all straightened out too.
