    Cables

    hey everyone, whats happening?

Anyways - i was looking for the thread which had guage sizes in it. But i was unable to locate it. SO here;s my question:
Can someone detail the different guage sized cables to me?
I was wondering if i could run a 8 guage wire from the positive terminal on the battery. and use a 6 guage wire to ground? SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!

You should use the same gauge of cable but for the application that your asking about 6ga is bigger than 8ga so you can do that. Also it really all depends what you are using to run off that cable. If its something like a small weak amplifier that will never draw more current than 15amps then 8 and the 6 gauge cable is overkill. On the other hand if you're using a large amp(s) for your whole system then you should go with 4gauge.

You should be able to find more detailed info at www.meisearch.com

i would say just to make sure that you don't loose anypower from battery to your amp, use no less than 8G. i have 4G and i am running 4 channel and mono amp on it. it seems do ok for me.
plus don't forget to run it on the other side of your car or you may get electric noices.
oh yeah and if you have extra money upgrade the battery lamps with gold plated. they don't corrode, easy connection for your amp, and they look a lot better.

    Thanks fellas.
The amp i'm using is a 360W or 180W RMS. I'm using it to run a 12" Phoenix Gold (200W RMS). basically it should run it perfectly.
So, it is alright to run 8 guage from the battery to the amp. And then use the 6 Guage as ground?

4 gauge from the battery, to a distribution box, then 4 gauge to the amps.

Remember an inline fuse between the battery and dist box.

    That's how ive got it.

You wont, you will be fine. 8 gauge is plenty for that setup.
