What do you think of my timing belt?

Just wondering, what do you guys think of this pic of my timing belt, I took the cover off today to inspect it. Please click on the thumbnail to make it larger.

Looks fine. Should last you awhile. Do you know when it was last replaced?

Looks like a pic of a timing belt. Not much else to say. If it's got cracks, replace it.

you really can't tell just bu looking at it on the car... You should put white out marks on the belt and the two gears and take it off ond inspect good. You never know when it was changed last... and at that point if your not sure if it is good or not just replace it... there only like 35 bucks for belt and tensioner bearing and only take like 30 minutes to change.... I know becuase i kept putting mine off and finally my belt broke and my car died on me... luckely i didn't bend any valves.

If it feels loose on the right side, tighten up the tensioner on it. I personally pull the front cover off, loosen the tensioner & pry on it. Then I tighten the bolt. Timing belts should be changed around 60,000-80,000 mile intervals IMO, good to keep record of timing belt miles.

Re: What do you think of my timing belt?

No, that was just tightening the tensioner.

Changing the timing belt requires to put a jack under the motor & unbolt the side motor mount. Remove the valve cover. Take off the water pump pulley. Put engine at TDC on #1 piston compression stroke. Take the front top timing cover off, remove the crank pulley. Take the bottom front timing cover off. Loosen the tensioner & remove the timing belt.

It is wise investment in repacing the tensioner when changing the belt. Cheap insurance.
