Check out these lovely oil leaks :|

I was under the car today, thought somebody might be morbidly curious enough to want to see the oil leaks, lol.

my motto is you cant call it an oil leak until it puddles up on the ground and surrounds your tires, so when you take off your tires slip for the first 100 feet or so...

if a lot of problems are caused by the distributor o-ring, then why not just change it? It can't be that hard to change an o-ring. Now that I know what could be causing some of it I will get right to it.

Yeah the problem with mine is, that it wasn't tight enough so when we went to go tighten it some more, one of the top bolts snapped right the hell off.

It still leaks a little bit, but not as bad as my '88 was so until I have the money to have it drilled out and what not I'm just gonna have to live with it.

looks just like mine. everyone always has to ask me if my tranny is leaking when my car is up on the lift at school. but nah, i know its the distributor O ring. mine doesnt leak enough to make a difference though. a bunch of older hondas i've worked on have that same leak. its just a typical honda thing i guess.

I wouldn't call it blown yet. It doesn't even leak that bad.

crankshaft oil seals suck when they blow, u get a r00ted clutch from it.. AND u have to pull the motor to bits to fix the dogg...GAYY

and when you use expensive oil topping it up all the time isnt really what you want to be doing. and when ur trying to keep your motor shiny (like i allways do) it doesnt help either

Well I'm not exactly sure where mine leaks from, but it's not that bad. When I first shut it off I get a small puddle about the size of a half-dollar that drips down, then it stops.

If it's not the o-ring I think it could be the front main seal.

thats almost like mine, but mine is not THAT bad. the rear main seal is prolly ur culprit. as long as no puddles under the car, it should be good.

Well... when I first got the car, it was just starting to come out between the bell housing and the engine....

now it's covered the bottom of it. I think the culprit was that when i got the car, it had lots of gasoline in the oil.

Re: Check out these lovely oil leaks :|

That oil leak is coming from the rear main seal.

To change it out. Pull the CV axles out, remove the lower crossmember, drop the tranny, remove the flywheel or flexplate. Take the oil pan off, take off #5 main bearing cap. Loosen other main bearing caps, let the crank come down a little & tap out upper rear main seal. Put RTV silicone on edges of rear main cap. Install new seals, torque main caps with torque wrench. Use new oil pan gasket.
