    Can we remove parts?

Hey guys I was just wondering if we can
remove any engine parts to make life
much more simpler like the PCV Valve?

    Any ideas?

A20A1, I think on your website you mentioned some
    of these parts removed?

I'm pretty sure that you need the PCV valve or else the gases will build up inside your engine. I think that they could build up enough pressure to cause serious damage to the eingine.

Well if its carbed, get rid off the EGR valve, and then you can follow the hoses and get rid of anything related to it. Off course if you need emmisions this might not be a good idea.

I did it to my car, it worked fine didn't change anything.

if you want to lose weight, take out your passenger seat. or do you need that? how about your spare tire (full size)and your rear seat.

why would you choose to remove the PCV valve? it doesn't weigh anything, and it's out of sight, if you want to free up some space in the engine bay lose your power steering and a/c.

I say rip yer backseat out, that alone should lose ya atleast 50 lbs., and the spare tire, and then all the material in between the seats and the floor.

pcv valve prevents blowby gas from worn piston rings from building up in the crank...with no pcv valve you will start to rupture gaskets and get oil leaks like crazy. not a very smart move. i don't really see it being an emissions device but rather a maintenance item that saves you from doing work on your car. on the other hand the egr valve will gain you some power by disabling it cause it is an emissions device. And for all the the people serious about weight here is the break down i've what i dropped.

if u really wanna take something out, take the power steering out, it wont increase ur hp or stuff like that, but it would just give u more space, but would suck with our cars to turn on standstill. u can move your battery to the back if u want to. there is'nt anything u can just take out. why do u wanna pull something out anyways?

AT MOST the backseat weights 15 lbs, it's all sponge except on the rear a sheet of 1mm steel that looks like swiss cheese.

removing the PCV is not recommended but possible... it'll create a lot of air in the oil passages though as the built up pressure tries to escape out the valve cover. EGR can be removed as well as the air suction device but you will need to get a set of headers or have some plugs welded in the holes of the exhaust manifold. The vacuum accesories can all be removed if you get an aftermarket carb as well as all the electronic gadjets strapped to the fenders. I gotta get you guys a pic under my hood, nice and spacious

I never removed my PCV... I just added the new crankcase filter, so i could dump the old foam one attatched to the stock air box.

actually removing the PS system wiil give you some HP since it's run off the crank when you remove it it will no longer have to run the belt/pulleys and then free up maybe like 1-2hp....
    like adding underdrive pulleys...etc

ever notice that Stock cars mostly don't have Power steering on them...
    nothing

yeah exactly, removing stuff does not increase your hp gain in a major way, but adding something to your engine, would def increase your HP as u know

the 88 coupe runs 10.0 1/8miles, only difference is all that stuff mentioned is still in the car(except for the spare tire).

other things u can do to increase HP are:

    1)Remove cat
2)remove all accessory belts(ie. ps, ac)
    3)remove air filter
    4)100 octane unleaded fuel
    5) advance timming ignition
    6)smaller diameter front wheels/tires
    7)lighter front wheels/tires
    8) bump up fuel pressure
    9)remove emmissions

Off course these are TRACK only modifications

air box is only like 5lb if that so probably the only reason to remove it is to free up space
