03 civic cd player to 89 lxi

i have a guy at work that will give me a 03 civic oem head unit for nothing. the wiring looks to be straight forward, but before i go and get it from him, does the never civic stereos have like some sort of anti theft stuff that needs to be bypassed?

its not really bypassing the security as it is just punching in a code. the honda dealership should be able to get the number for you for a fee. they probably need the vin number and everything from you though, unless it comes in the radio manual with the car

other than the security code, it's pretty much straight foreward, i believe.

that is, unless honda went with the new wiring scheme on the 03 civic. if they did, i don't know of a workaround.

Honda changed the wiring in 1998 & the face plate would need moding
so we can plug & play almost anything 1986-1997 or 1985-2001
puelude HU's, you might be able to get a harness out of a junked civic but going with a aftermarket or a 86-97 OEM Stereo would be a better option.

either way, if it's local, i'd pick it up. i never turn down anything free because i can trade it up to something that i can use.
