    1987 accord lxi

i have a 1987 accord lxi. it is mechanically stock. it's a 3 door lxi. any points in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. i want to make it quicker without changing the motor. i have a header for it but it's not yet on it. i don't know what type of exhaust to put on it..{how large of pipe, what type of muffler etc..} and is there anything on the motor i can do to make it quicker. any suggestions would be appreciated. thank you

theres a great link in the performace section about a lot of the mods you should do to your car. i would say get the exhaust done, cold air intake, b16 intake manifold and a good cam, should be pretty fast.

If you don't want to swap engines then why did you post this in the engine swaps section?
Anyway, start from exhaust/intake and work your way up from there.

Of course I'm lazy. If I wanted to work on my car I'd have gotten a DSM

i/h/e, cam, etc. basically, the usual honda path. but to really make the i/h/e pay off, a more aggressive cam and some porting/polishing of the head will give you some increase. like the other fellow said, b16a/b18c5 intake manifold will be better than the stock a20 one, bigger tb, ignition mods, and the list can go on. glance around and use the search button next time before just immediately jumping in with a question could help your position.
i also noticed that you have an 87. if you look around, you can see if you find all the differences between the 86-87 a20a3 and the 88-89 a20a3 and see if you can find parts at the jy or something if you're on a bit of a budget and get afford performance parts. because the 88-89 got 122 hp stock as opposed to the 110 of the 86-87 model. i know the exhaust manifold has quite a bit to do with it, and possibly the cam and ecu, etc.

on the first page of the board, there's a whole section called "Frequently Asked Questions." go glance through it. then, in the tool bar at the top of every page in the forum, third button from the right is called "Search." it's a wonder how much those two little things can do with so little effort.

im sorta drunk so im feeling nice;.

www.deltacam.com call them up they are super fast, usually ship out ur cam the next day.

for a stock-ish car i reccomend a 272 grind. shouldnt cost more than $120 shipped without a core. and they will send u $30 back with a core exchange.
