Just brought home a little brother for the 3G.

I picked up a 91 Civic LX (4dr 5spd) yesterday. It was kept in really nice shape and I can't wait to stick a ZC motor in it, lol. It looks funny having two Hondas of roughly the same era in my driveway. Anyway I'll post some pics later today.

I'm guessing a ZC is the cheapest way to go, that's why, lol.

The ZC's not a bad motor. I had a buddy who had one in his hatch of that gen and it was a quick little car. Or you could maybe put an LS motor is there too. Less expensive then a b16.

I'm thinking turbocharged ZC, hehe. Should be nice and quick.

zc swapped civics are still really slow, but its definetly a bit better than the d16. honestly if the d16 is in good shape i would boost that first off and just enjoy it. but thats me.

my dad has a zc swapped civic, and my accord with bolt ons is significantly faster

Re: Just brought home a little brother for the 3G.

hmm, I'm afraid I have to disagree with ya there BobaFett. Maybe in your particular case your Accord my be faster than a ZC Civic, but your dad's Civic must have an SOHC ZC or something. Just think about the math for one minute. An 86 Accord Hatchback stock has about 110hp, so with some bolt ons at the most 125hp, and in an extreme case maybe 130hp? All of this in a car that weighs at a minimum 2650lbs.

Now consider the Civic, which weighs 2160lbs or so. Then with a DOHC motor cranking out 129-137hp.

Now I may be crazy, but even though most people claim their Accords are slow, I don't really find mine to be very slow. Mine is basically a stock motor with a short ram intake and an MSD Blaster2 coil coupled with a 5spd transmission. I estimate my Accord to have a 0-60 time of about 7.5 seconds, which is quite respectable. However; even though I feel that my Accord is fairly quick, I have ridden in a Civic with the DOHC ZC engine before and I can honestly say that it was MUCH, MUCH, MUCH faster than any fairly stock Accord.

Of course it could all have to do with transmissions too. If your dad still has the crappy little LX/DX/EX 5spd then that could explain it. My buddy that had the swap had the 4spd transmission...so of course good acceleration. I'm probably going to go with an Si 5spd for mine though

yeah my friend has a ZC motor on his civic hatch...it has DC sport headers and a CAI but its not smog legal out here in california so he has to get rid of the car.. and 0-60 in 7.5 secs...the factory specs are like 11 secs...unless you have a turbo or NOX it wont go that fast...get a real timer not what your think

well fast or not......it sure as hell feels fast in a car that small, lol.

Anyone know what the factory 0-60 on a fuel injected 4dr 5spd 3G is?

are you serious, zc isn't smog legal in cali at all? or is it because of the headers and all? that was my next project after my eclipse...
