i was wondering if you could use an oil catch can, as a oil reservoir. instead of drillin and tapin an oil pan. but then i got thinkin that the oil should reserculate. i dont know it was just a thought.

I dont even know how that works.
I'm assuming you're thinking of doing this for a turbo application. You still need to tap the pan for the return line.

couldn't you use the return line to the oil catch can??? i am just not sure if the turbo or anything has a pump to recurclate the oil. who knows. just a thought.
But if all the oil ends up going back to catch can, how do you filter it and how do you pump it back out of the can and back into the oiling system itself? I think you're thinking of something like a dry sump system.
