Are the headers that pacesetter makes for the 89 accords any good? I read somewhere that the monza exhaust wasnt too good. Are they worth the money? Do they help the sound any?

il put it nicely for you cause alot of ppl are gonna come on and scream at you to use the search feature, just click on the "search" in the top right corner of the page, then search " pacesetter header "
-Who needs horse power when you got icy roads and bald tires
-To drift a car is to create reckless art
well from what ive heard there the only ones still made for our cars so ya its eather stock or pacesetter unless u can find a used dc somewere like of a lude or an accord
Anything will be better than stock!!
But from what i've heard they tend to rust real quick but if you have it ceramic coated will last a very long time but costs more. Also a lot of peeps tend to replac teh ball joint with Flex pipe as the ball joint tends to crack as it's not flexible enough.
What a lot of people also do is use the header and have a custom system made up from this all the way back 2" for mild mods 2.25" for upto 200bhp 2.5" for full on race use
best bang for the buck, not a big differnce but better than stock. and it makes it a little more ricier, i mean raspier. theres another company that makes them for us too, i think its S&S. its in the FAQs i think.
nopi has them on sale too at $165.74...
edit...double checked price.

since they're pretty much the only ones still made, you'll have to settle for one. but if you can get your hands on a dcs, the popular opinion is that you should jump on it.
can you feel the performance gains at all? especially if i ran like 2.25" pipe the whole way down?
yeah you can feel a pretty big difference, before i got my header on i couldnt chirp second after i got that on i could chirp the tires on second, now i can burn the rubber off with my new setup![]()
I have the monza exhaust and in my opinion it was well worth the $190 i spent for it and it looks nice.
i found this site a lil bit ago...
it supposedly has dc headers for 86-89 accord fi
http://www.doctorimport.com/dc_sports_header/
i haven't contacted them to see if they actually have it but someone who wants to buy headers can give it a try.
.... oh i forgot to be a search ogre... SEARCH NEXT TIME!!!!!!!!![]()

so what are you saying... that pacesetters are shitty? cus i think we all know that. lol sorry about that man
carbed accords have an extra hose that runs into the header. not egr, but another similar and larger tube that goes to it. the EFI header does not have this. i imagine if you have a carbed accord with the emissions system stripped you could use an EFI header just fine.
Yeah it's the AS pipe.
you'll find most of the info you need in the Header FAQ.

My Engine rebuild is just about done should I just go ahead and order these
pacesetter
My budget is getting tight and I know the paint will burn off of these and look like crap, but I'm really looking to install a header before I get the engine in, so should I get them or just hold off and wait ?

I can give a thumb's up to JetHot. JetHot will sell you the Pacesetter WITH their coating on the headers, downtube, pipe, et al. BTW, I kept the joint, never got a flex pipe, and I've never had a problem. I did have to nick away a SMALL part of my crossmember so it wouldn't vibrate against the pipe, but that took about 5 min. at the muffler shop.Originally Posted by picopop

Your headers will look like crap if you don't coat them; don't waste your time/money on high-temp paint. Why spend all that money on your rebuild only to have your exhaust ruin it?
This pic shows where my muffler man cut out a small section of the crossmember so it wouldn't vibrate.
.
Here's the joint that comes w/ the Pacesetter that some people replace w/ a flex pipe. I've had ZERO problems with the joint, so far.
.
Here's what the JetHot coating looks like. They coat all 3 pieces.
