ACCORD 2.0I-16 was and is a DREAM car, rare as a Ferrari or a Honda NSX.

Sorry Thegreatdone about the pictures, the uni scanner is crap.

I have these test more than 2 years, and I found them in Coventry University Library.
Now I am in Brighton for master ( my last year in U.K) and I find a scanner
at uni, so I have the oportunity to post the magazine's test......but unfortunally the photos are crap.

    Accord 2.0I-16 is simply SUPERB.

    Look at the acceleration!!!!!!25 sec 0-100mph, 16.8 sec-1/4 mile!!!!
Is even faster than the much lighter Prelude 2G with the same engine ( Accord better aerodynamics)
And U.K version was superheavy 1190kg.

I think your car Thegreatdone is much faster, through hasn't got A/C ( 22kg less - 3-4whp plus) and hasn't got cruise control- headlights washer etc must be 40 kg less.

Just put back the original wheels or some 15*7 and you'll have a TROOPER.

How many newer 2.0 cars (coupe or Family cars) have this performance of ACCORD 2.0I-16 (20 years before)???????

And the 5th wheel they used at the epoch the magazines+ the U.K weather give much slower acceleration and less max speed for the Accord than in the reality......

Well, my Accord 2.0i-16 is definately faster than my 2.0i-16 lude, so yeah very true. It's very interesting that the JDM article mentions that they considered using 2.3 or 2.4 liter engines, even turbocharged. Too bad they didnt go through with that, would have made for a nice BMW E30 M3 killer lol

Do you happen to know if there's any difference between JIS (mentioned in JDM article) hp and DIN or SAE hp? I've always suspected that the japanese hp measuring are not 100% the same as the european, but I havent yet found out how much of a difference there is.

And I might go down in rim size at some time when I get some real numbers to go with it hehe

edit: and oh yea that IS probably the crappiest scan I have ever seen Reminds of those "small" old ass black white scanners that you held in your hand and just rolled over the stuff you wanted to scan. Oh yes, those were the days hehe

JIS (japanese) meausure and DIN (german) measure of flywheel horsepower is exactly the same even if some people think that JIS is actual lower.

But I have check it 1000 times and 1PS in JIS/DIN is exactly the same 0.736KW

The only problem in measurement is for American system SAE.

Before 1972 the american cars were rated in SAE gross horsepower ( flywheel horsepower but without emissions, belts etc) so the American cars before 1972 are rated about 20% larger horsepower than in reality ( or JIS/DIN and SAE net measurement).

Newer SAE net (AMERICAN) is actually the same as JIS/DIN rated at 1 PS = 0.746KW

There is also one little difference between brake horsepower and hp/PS.

Per example the Civic TYPE-R is rated in U.K 197bhp when in the rest of Europe is rated for 200hp.

The same happens with the ACCORD 2.0I-16 which is rated at 137bhp

But there are some people that just say that British measurement in bhp hasn't to do anythink with the Brake Horsepower standar????

So there is a litle confusion on this, even I believe that British actually measure in brake horsepower, for this all the cars specs are rated 2-3hp less than the same cars on other Europe countries....

jdm B20A from Accord 3G/ PRELUDE 2G was the best B20A engine ever produce from HONDA, and for this was and is used extensively in motorsport activities.

    Was rated at 160 PS/6300rpm and 19.1kg.m/5000rpm (9.4:1 C/R)

Euro B20A2/A8 were rated at 137bhp/6000rpm (9.5:1 C/R) but I believe the real horsepower for this engine is about 145hp ( as your Dyno proved as well).

Second generation jdm B20A from PRELUDE 3G 88-91 mod was rated at 145 PS/6000rpm (9.5:1 C/R) when Euro B20A3/A5 was rated at 150hp/6000rpm (10.5:1 C/R). This is the only ocasion that I know when Jdm engine has less power than the EDM one.
US version I think was rated at 138hp with very low C/R.

First generation B20 engines must have the most agressive cams and best head flows.
