Based on your signature, I'm assuming you have an LX (please fill out the vehicle details in your profile, it helps a lot). As far as I know, there is no way to open up the fuel filter and clean it. Buy a new one. They are cheap. The hose that goes to the engine connects to the plastic nipple with an arrow on it. The hose from the fuel tank connects to the other nipple. Its pretty self explanatory once you look at the way its installed. Don't forget about the second fuel filter by the carb. Hope this helps.
