    Re: a small upholstery project

ok the overhead piece is finished. I ended up making the piece that actually holds the switches out of lexan that I frosted, I then made a metal trim piece that snaps over the outside of the switches around the edges. it leaves a gap in the middle where there is lexan. I am going to install a green backlight,so that the edges of the switches and the center section glow at night. eventually i might install a micro purple neon tube up there so it glows purple on demand. I should have played the lottery today, i made the metal and lexan piece before I even bought the switches, I thought they might fit, but they fit perfectly. it even snaps in place perfectly, I didn't take one stinking measurment. I wonder what the odds on me doing that again are?

if the paint ends up looking bad,I'm going to have words with the painter....wait a minute....thats me.....well that would make me crazy then. as far as the rims i restored these rims i've got and painted them, they are 89 teg rims, the 14'' ones.
with the silver car they'l look better.

sorry about the size of the pics, normally when they put them on disc they aren't this big. if anyone wants to shrink them feel free to: now you can see what i mean about the rear plastic, thats a complete new project to do though. it will get fixed in time.

here are a couple more reasons why we also had to pull the old headliner,I moved the xm antenna to the front center of the roof, and the wire had to come through the roof, I also molded it in. the other was to repair the rear of the roof near the hatch.

What material did you use for the headliner Tim?
    Looks sorta like suede.

    Looking awesome as usual!

Of course I'm lazy. If I wanted to work on my car I'd have gotten a DSM
