    Heart Breaking Decision

Well my car was towed to Modesto Today since i blew the headgasket and my uncle is going to fix it.... i was talking to the tow truck driver who has a 10.5 sec 240Z he said he put a supercharged 5.0 mustang engine in it. i told him that my car had a carb and a automatic trans...he told me that was a bad set up...right now im just 18 so i cant afford to swap it to Fuel injection and 5speed...so i got to do one at a time. I was wondering what would you guys recomend first?

EFI or 5speed? for now and maybe in a year to do the other one

Not exactly heart breaking .. go 5 speed first, then collect the parts to go EFI and do that later on. You'll have more fun with a standard then EFI =) you'll be happier you went standard first, then EFI, instead of EFI then 5spd.
Anybody with a pulse and eyesight can get excited looking at $250,000 supercars. It takes a special kind of gearhead to drool over an Accord, Sentra, Corolla or anything else made out of parts found in dumpsters, scrap yards, and along the side of the highway.

    here is a deal:
if you want to make your car more reliable go with EFI swap. I will give some power gain and it will make the car way more reliable.
If you want better performance, go with 5 speed. It is easy to do and even with carb you will feel the diff.

If i was you, i would go with EFI. it is more practical. You can live with auto tranny for a while, plus you don't know who long it will be before you get another car.

You could go put a 5 speed in, and then try gutting your carb, alot of people say that helps.

(I do not have first hand experience with carb gutting, my Accord came with EFI)

In stock form, the EFI auto 3g has more guts than a 5 speed carb

if you want to convert to efi first, you could probably find a 5 spd efi for pretty cheap. probably about the same amount you'd spend in the swaps and that you'd get from selling your car. you can sell your car now and gather a little extra money and buy a 5 spd efi. and idk how you guys are up north about rust, but being from cali like you are, finding a rust-free suspect isn't hard.

well.... i have a 88 dx so when it comes to weight its already...down low...if i got Fuel injection i would need a donor car and i dont have money to get a alright car and then swap...i was looking and the carb auto trany has the best gears for high speed, fuel saving, but it has slower take off.

what i'm saying is save your money, get a couple hundred, then sell the dx and buy an lx-i or a se-i. of course, it wouldn't be as light if you're into weight but you could strip it of some things if you want.
