    engine light

I was driving earlier and the engine light came on so i turned off the car and checked some stuff out and turned the car back on and it was off. About an hour later it did it again and i turned the car off then back on and it stayed off since. Any idea what it could be?

leave the car on when the light comes on, then check under your seat.

heh, yeah, EGR. Mine does that shit too. It comes on about 20 minutes after I start driving. Good luck getting the EGR off of the manifold without a sledgehammer too, those little bolts get practically welded to the lovely aluminum manifold.

Check your ECU below your seat. Your dash light is meant to go off when you turn your ignition off. Your ECU won't change till you reset if by removing your clock/ECU fuse in your engine bay or disconnecting your battery.

Flip down that tab and see how many times your ECU is flashing
Check here to interpret the codes:

If it's flashing 1x or 2x it's your O2 sensors. Try reversing them and see if that helps. It did for me when I put on my Pacesetter header.

reversing them? So an 88 has more than one o2 sensor? I always kinda figured 88-89 had two of them.
